#1. Drinking water keeps your skin hydrated

Drinking a sufficient amount of water every day is beneficial for your overall health including your skin health, but it doesn’t guarantee hydrated skin. On top of drinking water regularly, the best way to keep your skin hydrated is to incorporate a gentle cleanser and moisturizer into your skin care routine for that extra layer of moisture in skin.

*Some ingredients to look out for when finding the right moisturizer include ceramides, hyaluronic acid, squalane, glycerin, snail mucin and more.

#2. You don’t need sunscreen on cloudy days

Rain or shine, it’s a no brainer to apply sunscreen whether you’re outdoors or indoors. UV rays are all around us, so never underestimate the importance of SPF. By protecting skin from UV rays, sunscreen helps prevent skin cancer, slow down the process of aging, and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the long term.

#3. Exfoliating every day is good for skin

Exfoliating is a process that removes dead skin cells for clear and bright skin. However, it’s not necessary to exfoliate every day as over-exfoliating can cause more harm than good to skin. For optimal results, exfoliate once or twice a week. Observe how your skin reacts to exfoliation to determine how often you should incorporate this step into your skin care routine.

*Some symptoms of over-exfoliated skin include irritation, breakouts, dryness, redness and inflammation.

#4. Anything marked “natural” or “chemical-free” must be better for you than other types of skin care products

Just because terms like “natural” and “chemical-free” are featured on the product labeling doesn’t necessarily mean that the product is free of harmful or synthetic ingredients. Keep in mind that labels like “natural,” “organic” and “chemical-free” don’t ensure that a formula is safe to use and better for your skin. In fact, some natural skin care products may contain essential oils and botanical oils that can cause skin irritation.
