A favorite of the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Rosie-Huntington Whiteley, Kate Hudson and just about anyone in love with green, organic, straight from the farm-curated luxe skin care, Vermont-based Tata Harper skin care has just been acquired by South Korean cosmetic conglomerate Amorepacific Corp., which owns Laneige, Sulwhasoo, Mamonde, Innisfree and Etude House. According to a Reuter’s press release, the company will purchase Natural Alchemy LLC, the parent company for Tata Harper, as part of a plan to expand in the North American market.
Known for her farm to bottle ingredient ethos and infamous glass green bottles, Colombian born Harper elevated the “green” skin care market and created a brand in 2010 that is now an iconic part of the “Clean Beauty” lexicon. With celebrities, aestheticians and the affluent set turning to her natural and environmentally friendly moisturizers, serums and masks, the brand has amassed a cult following on wellness-centered consumers. According to the press release, Tata Harper is currently sold by 25 online retailers and over 800 brick-and-mortar stores including Neiman Marcus, Sephora and Bluemercury.
While the terms of the sale have not been disclosed, Amorepacific stated it would invest more than $123 million its U.S. business to purchase the much beloved brand.
